From Cambridge to Cuba | A night of Latin Jazz with CUJO and Mark Armstrong

The Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra – the University’s flagship big band – teams up with former National Youth Jazz Orchestra Artistic Director Mark Armstrong to perform a thrilling programme of Latin and Afro-Cuban Jazz featuring some of Mark’s original compositions and arrangements. The repertoire ranges from Salsa to Samba such as Dizzy Gillespie’s A Night In Tunisia to Mark’s own Coastbound. The punchy Caribe by Michel Camilo is also in the mix alongside Mark’s original suite, The Hunt, mixing Bembe, Latin and Swing.

CUJO prides itself on being a fully student-led ensemble that strives to bring underrated and unique styles of big band music to a public audience. CUJO’s collaboration with Dennis Rollins MBE will feature a set list of cutting-edge Iain Dixon big band arrangements from Dennis' Velocity Trio Album 'The 11th Gate' (2011).
